DD#1's room (new house)

Playroom

We still need to decorate but here are the basics. I wanted it set up as centers. I plan on using DD's artwork for a lot of the decorations, really make it her space.

The room as a whole.

"Pretend" area

Reading center.
I have a canopy that I want to put up over/around the chair to make it a private reading area. I also want to put up the quote: "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" ~ Dr. Seuss

Animal Canvas to go with Jungle Luv crib bedding

My toddler has the Jungle Luv crib bedding by Lambs and Ivy. We recently moved and her new room is much larger then the old nursery.. so it was time for some wall art! I decided to make my own canvas art to fit in the space below her name-wall letters.

Pulling ideas from the bedding, I decided to make an elephant, rhino and giraffe stack. We also have a butterfly mobile hanging over her changing table as well as some butterflies on her drapes, so I decided to incorporate that in as well.

I originally wanted to use round canvases and put one animal per canvas, but I couldn't find round ones. I did find the oval canvas and decided to stack the elephant and the giraffe (2 of her favorite animals!) but it looked like something was missing.. so I decided to add an animal and thought the rhino from her bedding would fit right in (I wanted the animals to be somewhat proportionate in size and the zebra made it too tall).

Oval canvas + green spray paint + scrapbook paper cutouts of the animals + Modge Podge =

The wall letters I made while I was still pregnant with her. I bought wood letters from JoAnn's and used acrylic paint to paint them myself. Super easy and inexpensive.

DD#2 DIY canvas bird art

Sneak peek of the bird art I'm making for the new nursery! I spent all afternoon buying supplies and figuring things out, cutting out birds from scrapbook paper and starting to spray-paint the canvases. I'm so excited with how it's turning out and I can't wait to have it all done and be able to hang it up!

Layout plan. There are 2 canvases missing (bottom left and top left where the birds are) because the spray paint was drying.. I'm also going to have to replace the 2 solid lavender colored birds because they blend in with the lavender paint too much..
Here's one that's done! I had to use the flash because I couldn't wait until natural light to post.. and the colors looked way off without the flash..
Bird outline is the same as the one from the bird mobile I made, "Wendy the bird" from LollyChops.com

The canvas idea is my interpretation of Etsy seller modernarteveryday's "

Birds of a Feather - Set of 3 Giclee Prints on Canvas"

If you're interested in making your own, all I did was buy blank canvases from Micheal's. I then spray painted them lavender. Once dried, I used Modge Podge (lustre) to glue the bird scrapbook paper cut-outs. I used a brown Elmer's Painters marker for the branches. Finally, I used a hole punch to cut out circles and glued those on with the Mod Podge. Lastly, just spread a thin layer of Mod Podge over the entire canvas to seal everything (I used a sponge brush and the Mod Podge dries clear). Easy!
