Progress on DD#2 Nursery (green and lavender)

Still have cleaning up to do and I want to put up either her name or something similar w/ wood letters.. but we have to decide on a name first! ;)
Also, we are replacing the chair with a glider.. but the glider is still in DD#1's room.

Drapes are from PBK outlet.
Bird canvases are DIY. See post below about how and inspiration.
Mobile is DIY. Also see post below about how to and links.
Rug is from Land of Nod.com
Tree decal is from Target.

note: the bedding is not on the crib yet. We have plain lavender sheets and will use a breathable bumper.

purple shelf with pegs will be hung above changing table (you can see it resting on the changing table ;)

Animal Canvas to go with Jungle Luv crib bedding

My toddler has the Jungle Luv crib bedding by Lambs and Ivy. We recently moved and her new room is much larger then the old nursery.. so it was time for some wall art! I decided to make my own canvas art to fit in the space below her name-wall letters.

Pulling ideas from the bedding, I decided to make an elephant, rhino and giraffe stack. We also have a butterfly mobile hanging over her changing table as well as some butterflies on her drapes, so I decided to incorporate that in as well.

I originally wanted to use round canvases and put one animal per canvas, but I couldn't find round ones. I did find the oval canvas and decided to stack the elephant and the giraffe (2 of her favorite animals!) but it looked like something was missing.. so I decided to add an animal and thought the rhino from her bedding would fit right in (I wanted the animals to be somewhat proportionate in size and the zebra made it too tall).

Oval canvas + green spray paint + scrapbook paper cutouts of the animals + Modge Podge =

The wall letters I made while I was still pregnant with her. I bought wood letters from JoAnn's and used acrylic paint to paint them myself. Super easy and inexpensive.

DD#2 DIY canvas bird art

Sneak peek of the bird art I'm making for the new nursery! I spent all afternoon buying supplies and figuring things out, cutting out birds from scrapbook paper and starting to spray-paint the canvases. I'm so excited with how it's turning out and I can't wait to have it all done and be able to hang it up!

Layout plan. There are 2 canvases missing (bottom left and top left where the birds are) because the spray paint was drying.. I'm also going to have to replace the 2 solid lavender colored birds because they blend in with the lavender paint too much..
Here's one that's done! I had to use the flash because I couldn't wait until natural light to post.. and the colors looked way off without the flash..
Bird outline is the same as the one from the bird mobile I made, "Wendy the bird" from LollyChops.com

The canvas idea is my interpretation of Etsy seller modernarteveryday's "

Birds of a Feather - Set of 3 Giclee Prints on Canvas"

If you're interested in making your own, all I did was buy blank canvases from Micheal's. I then spray painted them lavender. Once dried, I used Modge Podge (lustre) to glue the bird scrapbook paper cut-outs. I used a brown Elmer's Painters marker for the branches. Finally, I used a hole punch to cut out circles and glued those on with the Mod Podge. Lastly, just spread a thin layer of Mod Podge over the entire canvas to seal everything (I used a sponge brush and the Mod Podge dries clear). Easy!

I've decided to make a lot of DD#2's nursery Decor/Bedding

...and I found all the perfect fabrics today at JoAnn's! I'm super excited about it :D
Green room, lavender and white polka dot drapes + I've decided on a bird "theme" with purples, whites and greens, possibly a little yellow and teal thrown in. I plan on buying solid colored (lavender) crib sheets and making the blanket myself (that will be on the glider anyway).

Here are the fabrics I found today. I plan on making a bird mobile with these as well as making appliques to attach to a solid colored (lavender) crib skirt and some pillows to use as decor.

Here's what the birds for the mobile should turn out like: and instructions HERE

And this is what I'd like the iron-on ones (or sew on, haven't decided yet) to look like

And here is the fabric I love that will be used for the blanket (backing will be lavender):

Bedding

Just browsing some bedding already. To be honest, most of DD's bedding is currently just decoration, so I'm not sure we'll be paying so much for something we don't use much (never used the bumper, we have a breatheable one which is much safer. And the "comforter" is on the glider. Maybe she will use that in her toddler bed?)

But anyway, I'm still browsing bedding. If anything I'll buy the window valance, sheets, diaper stacker, decorations, etc..

BOY bedding I like
Jungle Tales
Jungle 1 2 3
hmm... I'm starting to think I really like Jungle themes, considering both those are, and DD's set is a girly Jungle theme! ;)
DH might really like Playoffs

For GIRL bedding, I might go with something more simple this time, like:
Classic Pink Polka Dots
Elephant Stitch is adorable!!

DD's current bedding is the Jungle Luv theme found at BRU. We absolutely love it! Her room is painted a pale yellow, with a while chair rail. Above the chair rail are pale yellow and slightly darker yellow stripes. From the BRU website:

Nursery Thoughts for DC#2

At first, I thought we would keep DC#2 in the PnP until around 4 months. At that point, DD will be 2 and I figured I could switch her to a toddler bed or full sized mattress on the floor and give DC#2 the crib... Then I started thinking, if DD is not ready to be out of the crib, then what? Plus I'd be worried about jealousy issues of having to "give" her crib to DC#2, and we bought a convertible crib, so why not let it stay with her :)

So I started browsing cribs at JCP.com. We bought DD's changing table from there and it's great quality, just as good as her expensive crib was. So why pay more?! ;)

Keeping with the convertible style, which we love.. I love the way both these cribs look as cribs, as toddler beds, and as a full-sized bed/headboard:
If DC#2 is a boy, I think I want THIS crib.
If DC#2 is a girl, I like THIS crib.
